My personal guide to motorcycles in Singapore *INCOMPLETE*
There’s Class 2B,2A and 2
Types of bikes: Classic, Cruiser, Cub, Scooter, Dirtbike, Sport Bike, Sport Tourer, Naked Bikes, 3 Wheeler
For the short dudes (like me), you may find a low seat or choose something like a cruiser, scooter, or cub basically anything that fits your boat
In Singapore there’s something you must buy when purchasing ANY vehicle, it’s called a COE (Certificate of Entitlement) basically its an expensive piece of paper for you to own a vehicle and it expires every 10 years and you can opt to buy the 5 year expiry if there’s a slot. Here’s the link for the COE prices. So why COE you might ask, it exist because Singapore is a small country just google our land area size. 1.5 hour to the other side of the country by car so yeah if there isn’t any COE this country will be packed like sardines.
After the paying COE, don’t get your hopes up there’s more to pay hehe 🙂 This one is obvious, gas and parking. Prices for gas is in this link. For parking you may opt season parking or else you pay these prices here in this link
At the time of writing this article during the pandemic on July 2021, the price of the COE is at the moon so most people are waiting for the price to go down to get the best deal possible (well who doesn’t want discounts right?)
Speed limit in Singapore on normal roads is 50km/h (30 miles per hour), School zone is 40km/h (24 miles per hour), Expressway or some people call it the highway ranges between 80-90km/h (49miles to 55miles per hour)
Oh yeah we drive on the left side, the right most lane is the overtaking lane
The road shoulder is at the extreme left and it’s for emergencies only, strictly no riding or driving at this lane but in our neighboring country, Malaysia, it’s perfectly fine to ride on the road shoulder
Traffic light here is green then amber for about 5 seconds then red
For cross junctions there is green arrows that signal you to turn, when it starts blinking then you have about 5 seconds to turn
For gas or petrol, you are definitely going to use up more gas when taking roads with more traffic lights, kinda common sense for me to say this but taking another road will really save you some of that gas moneh in the long run
